Refresh Your Skills And Expand Your Knowledge
Our AIARE Avalanche Refresher Course will bring you up to speed on the latest techniques in avalanche education while also addressing any gaps in your knowledge. We begin with a review of fundamental avalanche awareness concepts and then we bring you up-to-date on the newest techniques, tests, and equipment. You will finish the day feeling tuned up and ready for a safe and successful season of backcountry skiing or snowboarding.
Entirely Field Based On Red Mountain Pass
Our AIARE Avalanche Refresher Course takes place on Red Mountain Pass and is entirely field based. With assistance and coaching from your guide you will review the avalanche bulletin, identify the key avalanche concerns for the day, make a tour plan, and then undertake a significant backcountry ski tour. During the tour you will assess the snowpack, make routefinding choices, and employ travel techniques while getting valuable feedback from your guide. You will also practice companion rescue for single or multiple burials using the latest in beacon technology. The course is conducted as a private program in order to tailor the content to your specific skill level, previous experience, and interests.
Taught By An AMGA Certified Guide & AIARE Qualified Instructor
This course is taught by one of our guides who is certified by the American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA) and qualified by AIARE as a Level 1 & 2 instructor. In addition to refreshing your avalanche skills you will also get tips for efficient backcountry touring from a highly qualified guide.
