Follow-up programs:

If you would like to try multi-pitch climbing or just spend another day on the rock, consider the following possibilities as a follow-up to your day in Ouray:

Unaweep Canyon - This fine area hosts numerous single and multi-pitch routes that are tucked in a beautiful, quiet canyon.  It is a good place to experience a multi-pitch climb for the first time or have another day of single pitch cragging.

Black Canyon National Park - The Black Canyon is incredibly deep and shear, with plunging cliffs, soaring buttresses, and a thundering river below.  All the rock climbs are multi-pitch routes, beginning at 5.8 or 5.9 difficulty.  These routes are true adventure climbs in a dramatic setting and are best suited for intermediate or advanced climbers.

Moab, UT - The red sandstone walls, boulders, and towers of this area are world renowned for outstanding crack climbing in a stunning desert setting.  There are climbs of all styles and at all ability levels.  You could spend a day doing single pitch routes at a roadside crag or you could tackle one of the famous desert towers such as Looking Glass Rock (5.7), Castleton Tower (5.9+), or Ancient Art (5.9).  The weather is often warmer in Moab so it is a favorite destination in the spring and fall months when Ouray can be cool.
