A Combination of Hiking, Rappelling, and Breathtaking Beauty

Hike past dazzling rock formations, wade through crystal clear pools, and rappel down splashy waterfalls - this is Canyoning in Ouray! Canyoning can be enjoyed by all ages and no previous experience is required. The combination of hiking, rappelling, and breathtaking beauty make canyoning a hit with kids, adults, and families alike. We offer guided trips down Portland Creek, Angel Creek, and Oak Creek throughout the summer and fall.

Half Day and Full Day Progams

Our half-day canyoning program provides a perfect introduction to canyoning. We begin at a practice area where you will learn the basics of equipment use, safety, and rappelling. After this introduction, we will proceed to either Portland Creek or Angel Creek for a multi-hour descent down a beautiful alpine canyon. You will experience fantastic scenery, several rappels, and an exciting hike through a flowing canyon. In the full day program, you will gain additional practice with canyoning skills and you will do descents of both Portland Creek and Angel Creek. We also offer full day guided descents of Oak Creek Canyon for those with previous experience.

We Cater to Kids and Families

Our instructors and guides are highly skilled at creating rewarding and memorable experiences for kids and families.  Many of our guides are former public school teachers and outdoor education instructors, and we understand the unique needs of kids and families in the outdoors. In addition to working with private groups, we have also served multiple school districts, Boy Scout troops, and local youth programs.   We will design your family's canyoning experience to be highly rewarding, safety-focused, and a memorable experience that you will cherish for years to come.

All Equipment Provided Free of Charge

We provide all the equipment you will need to try canyoning in Ouray. When you arrive at our office, we will outfit you with a dry top and/or wetsuit, harness, helmet, and rappel device.  Just arrive with warm clothing, snacks, water, sunscreen, and sunglasses and we’ll take care of the rest.

Follow-up programs:

Rock Climbing in Ouray - We offer half day and full day rock climbing programs that are an excellent compliment to a canyoning adventure.  You can rock climb in the morning and go canyoning in the afternoon, or you can spread them out over separate days. Like canyoning, rock climbing is a great family activity that both kids and adults will enjoy.

Canyoneering in Moab - We offer guided descents of the famous Morning Glory Canyon in Moab.  Located just 2 1/2 hours from Ouray, this canyon has two 100 foot rappels and some impressive hiking through a sandstone slot canyon.  Check out our Moab Rock Climbing Page for more info.
